A Forgotten Post re: A Visit to the Dog Park

This is a post that has been sitting in the draft folder for a few years. I have not kept up with this blog. I did however, want to let you know that Nellie Belle has crossed to the other side on June 29th, 2020. She had been treated for a heart murmur for many years. After so many years, the medication no longer worked and she couldn't take a big drink of water without fainting and so a difficult decision had to be made. We were devastated by the loss of Nellie. The vet we took her to, recommended that we get another little one. No one could take Nellie's place but another little one could help to heal our hearts. We did adopt another little chihuahua and I will introduce you to her at another time.

The family became snowbirds this winter. We're enjoying the warm weather and are thankful we were able to be away from the awful weather. The area we live in here in Florida doesn't allow fences so Nellie has to be walked when she needs to do her "duty." There is an area here that is known as a dog park. It is just a small lot that is fenced in and your canine kids are able to run and frolic off their leashes. Nellie was very excited when we walked to the dog park.

Nellie Belle and Her Oldest Brother

Hey, this is Nellie Belle. I love it when Matt, my oldest brother, comes over once a week because I usually can get Mom to take me for a car ride to pick up Matthew and his laundry that he does at my house. Matthew is a great cuddler and I love to cuddle with him when he's here. Here's a picture of us.

Opi Has the Itchies

Hi, Opi here. My  mom and dad made me wear a t-shirt because I have allergies and have scratched up my skin pretty bad. Mom's a pretty smart lady because she knows that I can't get my nails on the itchy spots when I have a shirt on.

I had to go to the vet doctor guy and get a shot and I was feeling pretty put out to say the least. Mom put a dress on Nellie Belle so I didn't feel so bad about being the only kid with clothes on. Here's Nellie...

You can tell Nellie Belle wasn't too happy because when she's upset, she puts her ears down flat to her head like in this picture. Sorry Nellie!

I'm loving the nice weather we've been having. I'm enjoying going outside to chase the birds and squirrels. I really don't want to catch them, I just enjoy the chase. Nothing else is new here so I'll say goodbye with a wagging tail and a few puppy dog kisses...

It's a Bit Late but Here's Our Christmas

Christmas was nice for us. We only had a small group over Chrismas Eve--our Omi, Mom, Dad and brother Matthew. Omi Brought Sofia with here. I (Opi) like her but Nellie Belle is a bit aggressive with her. Take a look at Sofia with her brother, our dad:

On Christmas day, our other brother Justin, his wife Karen and the "girls" came over. Matthew was still here too. We had lots of fun with them.

I hope you guys had great holidays and I'm sorry my mom has been so slow with helping me update this blog. She's much better about updating her blog.

Our Mom Is Baby-Sitting Our "Aunt"

Our grandma is going with our dad to a graduation on the other side of the state tomorrow. Our mom is "babysitting" our Aunt Sofia. Mom says Nellie Belle is an alpha dog and that is why poor Aunt Sofia is bullied by Nellie B. Here's some pictures of us munching on our doggie cookies.

Opi Tells about Nellie Belle Being Scared

The other day, my sister Nellie Belle was so frightened and she barked in a really high-pitched yelp-like voice because she thought she saw a GHOST! 

She  about drove Mom and me crazy. Nope, it wasn't Casper the Friendly Ghost she saw...

It was a styrofoam head wearing a scarf Mom made!

My Mommy Is Something Else...

Hi, this is Nellie Belle. Yesterday when our mommy was going to pickup our big brother Matthew. I wanted to go for a ride.  Mommy said "okay" but she wouldn't take a nekkid little girl with her. Can you believe this--she made me put on a pink t-shirt?!!! I do NOT like clothes. Anyway, if it means going for a ride to get one of my big brothers, I'll do it. My daddy knows I don't like clothes so as soon as he came home, he helped me get nekkid again!

We Played Bunches on the Weekend...

We ran around outside a lot this past weekend. It was really hot outside--90 degrees! Mom said the weather was record breaking hot. All that playing around made us kind of tired so when Mom took her old lady nap, we climbed up in bed with her.

Dad was making some loud noises on the other side of the wall where the garage is. He was doing something with a hammer. Nellie was tired but she stayed on alert in case something needed her attention.

See how her "radar" ears are listening ? Anyway, we really didn't get a nap but we did get some cuddle time in and that's always good.

Nellie Belle Has a Boyfriend

Nellie is a bossy little girl. She bullies poor Opi something fierce. Yesterday, they were playing nicely together and then Nellie B found her boyfriend, Julio, and left Opi out in the cold with no one to play with! Here's a picture of Opi and Nellie B together:

Mom Can Be Forgetful Sometimes

Mom forgot she had a Photobucket account and when she just found it again, there was this cute picture of Nellie B in it. Nellie was kind of young then and still had her girlish figure. Mom made this sweater for her without a pattern because back then, Mom couldn't find a pattern small enough to fit Nellie. Here's the picture:

Yippie! Our mommy is home again! She left us home with Daddy and went to visit some of her family in Florida. We missed her bunches and bunches. We even had to rearrange our sleeping arrangements. Nellie Belle and Mommy snuggle and Opi sleeps by Mommy's feet to keep them warm. We even went to bed early because no one was awake after 10 PM! Glad Mom's home because we missed the hugs and goodies during the day when Dad's at work. Daddy did come home at lunch time to let us outside to go potty but it just wasn't the same. But do you know what Mommy did today after we spent a week missing her? She was MEAN and gave us BATHS! Hugs and puppy dogs kisses to you all.

Opi Causes a Ruckus

Opi was barking up a storm and Mom was getting frustrated with him. She held him and petted him. He was a little sweetie when she did that but as soon as she put him down, he barked like crazy again. Then, Mom realized what the problem was--Nellie had taken over Opi's spot where he liked to hang out after Daddy went to bed. Here's the culprit:

Mom tucked Opi into her fleece jacket and he stayed in there while Mom was sitting at the desk. He's a spoiled guy sometimes.

Mom's New Crochet Thingie for Nellie Belle

Mom found a pattern for a doggie shrug to crochet for Nellie Belle. She worked hard to make it and had to try it on Nellie B. several times so that it would fit just right. Nellie got a bit disgruntled at all this modeling stuff and went to bed with her daddy. Usually Nellie Belle has to be the last one in bed at night so Mom knew that Nellie was a tad bit disgruntled. The next morning, Mom put the completed shrug on Nellie Belle and before she could find her camera, Nellie took the shrug off and "lost" it somewhere in the house! Opi is an easy-going guy so he said "Hey Mom, when you find it, I'll try it on so you can take a picture of it. I don't care that it's a girlie thing." So here's the picture of Opi wearing it:

Later on, Mom did "catch" Nellie Belle and put the shrug on her so she could look pretty when Daddy came home from work. Here's Nellie Belle finally wearing the new shrug Mom made:

You can probably tell by the look on Nellie's face that she's not too happy with having clothing on. That's ok because as soon as Daddy saw her, he took it off and Nellie was happy again.

Sometimes Our Mom is Forgetful...

The other day, our mom finally gave us our Christmas presents! She gave us each a bag of treats and new sweaters. She said Santa had brought them in a timely manner for Christmas but she forgot to put them under the tree. Gee whiz mom, it makes us feel sad to see you open your presents on Christmas and we don't get any. Anyway, to make up for the late gifts, mom dressed us in our new sweaters and took pictures of us. We wouldn't smile for the camera though even though we were secretly happy with the stylish new duds we got. Here's one of the pictures...

She also gave us a WHOLE cookie instead of half of one. We love Mom always even when she's forgetful.

BUT she posted it on her blog FIRST! I like this picture because you can see that my daddy tickles my belly for me when I cuddle next to him in our recliner. I love my daddy 'cause he's a good daddy and gives me doggie cookies when I give him sad looks. Mom, next time PLEASE let me have 1st pick of photos for my blog! Mom's Mothering...

This is Nellie Belle here. I just wanted to say that here I am, a "big girl" and my mom STILL mothers  me. Take today for example, all I wanted to do was run out and greet my daddy when he got home from work. Oh no, Mom had to have her way before I could run out to see daddy. She  made me put my coat on before she would let me out the door. What  a bossy mommy...I love her anyway but gee whiz, I was only gonna be outside for a minute!

ps--Maybe Mommy is smarter than I give her credit for. I stayed warm!

Our Mommy Made Us Get a Shot!

We like going for rides in the car with our mom. Yesterday mom put our sweaters on us and loaded us up in the car. We were so happy until she pulled up in front of the vet's office. We both started shaking like crazy! We've been scratching a lot lately because our skin itches. We're allergic to something and we do NOT have fleas so that's not the problem. Every couple of months when the itching gets out of hand mom takes us for a shot and that's exactly what happened yesterday. Everyone said we were cute but no one even tried to save us! Mom did take us for a treat at the pet store afterwards because we were good "kids." We got star-shaped doggie cookies! They were pretty tasty so we forgave Mom for the shots. It's Getting Chilly!

Nellie Belle and Opi try to see who can get the most of the Mexican throw to snuggle in the recliner with 'cause it's getting COLD in themornings and evenings especially! Here's the chihuahua kids snuggling:

This is in the morning and they're missing their daddy's body heat in the recliner because he's gone to work.

Getting Cold Outside...Mom "Hooked Us Up"

Mom was getting concerned because it's getting cold outside and she wants us to be warm. Earlier this week, she picked up her crochet hook and some yarn and made us sweaters. They're cute and warm. We didn't have the heart to remind Mom that Chihuahuas shake and that helps to warm us up! We also shake when we're frightened but that doesn't happen too often here 'cause our parents love us and protect us from all the evils in the world!
